We partnered with CardX, the sole provider of legally-compliant, zero-cost credit card surcharging, to redefine their brand story, visual identity, and digital experience, driving business growth and industry leadership.

Credit card processing is notoriously complex and opaque, creating challenges for merchants seeking transparent and cost-effective solutions. CardX, after a landmark Supreme Court victory, needed to capitalize on its unique position by effectively communicating its offerings and expanding its market presence.

We delivered a cohesive and impactful brand experience that simplified the complex world of credit card processing and positioned CardX as a trusted industry leader.

We began by immersing ourselves in the complexities of the credit card processing industry and understanding CardX's unique value proposition.

We conducted in-depth research to identify the mindsets and core motivations of CardX's prospective end-users, from small businesses to large corporations. We worked closely with them to craft a brand narrative that injected simplicity and clarity into the industry, positioning CardX as a powerful payments partner across the full customer experience.

Our team designed and developed a web app portal for CardX members, focusing on user experience, information architecture, and ui components to reflect CardX's frictionless technology. The design system of components enabled CardX’s developers to rapidly prototype and ship with updates.

Using the design system from their portal, we collaborated to quickly ship a landing page that differentiated themselves from their competitor C4. This site became CardX’s call to action at the conference that they were both attending.

Our team identified its highest value customers, and developed extensive personas to enable targeted marketing. Using the audience segmentations, VSA built CardX a set of sales enablement materials, including custom folders with a metallic foil and targeted brochures for each prospective target.

Having a consistent brand experience at every interaction was important to CardX. The company enlisted VSA for the environmental branding of its Chicago headquarters. We expanded the brand system to include textures, patterns—and neon!—to create an environment that will attract top talent and demonstrate the start-up’s credibility.
